Crochet Converse Shoes (1st Pair - Prototype)

My first baby is now six months old, and I have always wanted to crochet a pair of shoes for him. Searching online for a crochet pattern to work on, I came across this website <http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/crochet-baby-converse> with details.

I started my first prototype with some leftover yarns and this is my first prototype of the converse shoes:
